Barbara Christina Steude
soprano

Barbara Christina Steude was born in the "Bach town" Mühlhausen in Thuringia where she received her first musical education. She studied sacred music and vocals in Dresden. Today the soprano is in great demand as a soloist. She performed many times together with Ludwig Güttler, Matthias Jung, Roderich Kreile, Georg Christoph Biller, Hans-Christoph Rademann and Peter Schreier.

Barbara Christina Steude performed at the "Rheingau-Musikfestival", the "Dresdener Musikfestspielen", and also in Japan, South Korea, France, Luxemburg, Austria, in the Czech Republic and in Switzerland. Besides vocal chamber music she is also interested in musical theatre and the preservation of Bach’s music.

In 2007, she released a highly-praised CD in cooperation with the "Lautten Compagney Berlin" with solo cantatas by Dietrich Buxtehude. Barbara Christina Steude and the harpsichordist Jan Katzschke are founders of the ensemble "Concerto con voce". Because of the 350th anniversary of Johann Kuhnau in 2010, Concerto con voce recorded a first CD with Kuhnau’s solo cantatas for soprano, which was recently released by CPO.
