Heike Janicke studied violin in her hometown of Dresden under Prof. Heinz Rudolf and Prof. Gustav Schmahl. Additionally she took part in master classes with Prof. Josef Suk and Prof. Max Rostal. She finalised her studies with the diploma for soloists with Prof. Wolfgang Marschner. Janicke became laureate of many international competitions, like in Geneva in 1985, "Fritz Kreisler" in Graz in 1987, "Georg Kulenkampff" in Cologne, "Carl Nielsen" in Odense and "Zino Francescatti" in Marseille in 1989. She started her career as a soloist as well as a musician for chamber music and performed nearly in all European countries, in the Middle East, in Japan and in the United States.
Between 1991 and 1993 Janicke was a member of the Berlin Philharmonics. She joined the London Symphony Orchestra in 1993 as assistant leader and performed with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and the Academy of St.Martin-in-the-Fields. Since 1996 she works and performs as the first concertmaster of the "Dresdner Philharmonic".
Chamber music is in her special interest. She performs with her brother Torsten as a duo. She has performed all the famous and important oevres of chamber music by Brahms, Beethoven, Schubert and Dvorak with Arkadi Zenziper and Alexander Rudin as well as the important compositions of the baroque era with Ludwig Güttler and his "Leipziger Bach-Collegium" in various festivals.
Heike Janicke plays Giovanni Grancino (Milano) violin that was made in 1722.
