Thomas Strauß

Thomas Strauß studied sacred music at the academy of Freiburg. As an organ player, he got several awards and prices in many competitions.
Since 1993 he works full time as a cantor in Oppenau. Here he founded an ensemble for chamber music and a Bach chorus, with which he went twice to the United States, performing the most important oeuvres of J.S. Bach in Winchester, Virginia. As a harpsichord player, organ player and a conductor, he took part in the "Bach-Haendel-Festival" several times, also in Winchester. Here he is working as an organ lecturer too.
Also in Oppenau he founded the "Festwoche Klassischer Music" as its art director in 1997. Between 2003 and 2007, Strauß was director of the chamber orchestra Oberkirch. Since 2004, Strauß plays regularly harpsichord at the chamber orchestra of Württemberg/Heilbronn. He also plays harpsichord in the "Wolfgang Bauer Consort".
Many recordings of various broadcast studios are available of Strauß. He performs regularly as a soloist or a member of chamber music ensembles all over the world.
