Verena Fischer, born in Würzburg, Germany, studied flute with Lukas Graf and Aurèle Nicolet in Basel. At this time, Fischer performed as a soloist with the “Radio-Sinfonieorchester Basel” and made many recordings both for radio and television. Fischer then played with the “Junge Deutsche Philharmonie” under Lorin Maazel, Charles Dutoit and Gary Bertini for five years and also for the “Südwestdeutschen Philharmonie” in Konstanz. In 1999 she took up masterclass studies in Würzburg during which time she played frequently in the Philharmonic orchestra based there.
In the last few years, Fischer has concentrated on playing the flute of the Baroque era. Since 1996, she has been part of the ensemble, “Musica Antiqua Köln”.
