Wolfgang Bauer
trumpet

Wolfgang Bauer studied at the academy of the Berlin Philharmonic with K. Groth, L. Köhler and E.H. Tarr. Contracts as a soloist brought him to the Munich Philharmonics, the “Radio Sinfonie-Orchester Frankfurt” and the symphonic orchestra of the Bavarian Broadcast since he was twenty. He travelled through Europe, the USA and South America, Japan, China and Korea. He is lecturing in Stuttgart as a professor since 2000.
Bauer won the competition of the ARD as well as the ”Deutschen Musikwettbewerb”. He performed with many famous international and German orchestras, e.g. the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra London and played under the conduction of L.Maazel, L. Forster and others.
Playing chamber music, but also playing as a soloist, he produced numerous CDs and founded the baroque ensemble “Wolfgang Bauer Consort”. He also initiated an ensemble of wind instruments in Stuttgart, called “City Brass”. Many world premiers, e.g. compositions of Rodion Schtschedrin and Wolfgang Rihm show Bauer’s virtuosity on his instrument.
